Overview
- This workshop series brings together participants in electronic structure theory. The presentations describe new methods for computing previously inaccessible properties, breakthroughs in computational efficiency and accuracy, and novel applications of these approaches to the study of molecules, liquids, and solids.
- Over the past decade, first-principles electronic structure methods have become a vital tool for scientific idea generation and validation throughout chemistry, physics, and materials research. Therefore, bringing together top American and international innovators in electronic structure to report breakthrough methods to an audience of young scientists is more important than ever.
- Despite the track record of success, there is a growing sense that electronic structure methodology merits a much higher profile in American faculty hirin g and research grant funding that it currently enjoys.
- This year's program will highlight advances in electronic structure methodology with invited oral presentations and contributed posters. The workshop will also feature a series of round-table discussions, led by various experts and stake-holders, to discuss the status of our field and to chart new directions.
